King Charles III launches King’s Foundation 35th anniversary celebrations
In 1990, Charles, still Prince of Wales, created an educational foundation, which is now one of the twenty foundations set up by the current British sovereign. After changing names several times, this foundation, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, is known as the King’s Foundation.

At the start of 2025, the year of the 35th anniversary of the King’s Foundation, King Charles III decided to celebrate this foundation. The anniversary launch event took place at Dumfries House, one of his homes in Scotland. Dumfries House is also the legal headquarters of the foundation which develops various projects in a wide variety of sectors. The King’s Foundation is interested in areas “in which the King is decades ahead, notably in education and sustainability, agriculture, traditional arts and crafts, health and well-being, and architecture and urban planning »explains the foundation on its site.

The King’s Foundation also runs educational projects linked to architecture and sustainable agriculture on the grounds of Dumfries House but also in Highgrove Gardens, Mey Castle Gardens and has its own traditional arts school. The foundation supports approximately 15,000 students through nature-based education programs.
This Wednesday, January 15, King Charles III was surrounded by personalities, ambassadors of his foundation and directors of the foundation to celebrate this anniversary. The singer Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, as well as the TV presenter known for his gardening reports, Alan Titchmarsh, were present at Dumfries House this Wednesday with the King. All three are ambassadors for his foundation.
To mark this anniversary, King Charles III placed personal items in a time capsule. Throughout this anniversary year, objects will be placed in the large box, which will then be buried at the end of the year on the grounds of Dumfries House. The box will not be unearthed for another 100 years, in 2125. King Charles III chose to deposit his own pair of pruning shears that he uses to prune the shrubs in his garden as well as a letter he wrote to future generations .
