Valais singer Bernie Constantin died this Thursday at the age of 77. The rocker became known to the general public in the 80s with the songs Switzerland Reggae and Lola Berlingot, each of which sold more than 200,000 copies.
The rocker born in Ayent (VS) had been “very affected in his health for several months”, reports Le Nouvelliste. In his own way, he inscribed the rock of the yéyés in the history of Swiss music. In 2013, he suffered a stroke which affected his memory.
However, he returned to the forefront in 2016 with a new album, Easy Bang Bang. He presented it in particular at the Rock Oz’Arènes festival, an event to which he has been faithful since its beginnings in 1992.
Bernie Constantin has released more than 15 records in total.
