New features for Siri
During the first quarter of 2025, Apple will bring several new features to the iPhone. The biggest changes are expected with the release of iOS 18.4, scheduled for spring. The focus is on Siri, which will receive a significant update. After recent updates with a new design and the integration of ChatGPT, Siri will be able, starting in April, to perform hundreds of new actions in Apple applications without having to open them manually. This feature will also be available for third-party apps through App Intents.
Siri will continue to evolve into a true intelligent assistant that will better understand your personal context, such as messages, calendar appointments and other personal details. Another expected improvement is the ability for Siri to see what’s on your screen, making it easier to help you complete tasks in apps. Combined with Apple Intelligence, Siri would become a handy digital assistant to help you with various daily tasks.
Other news
Apple Intelligence, currently available on macOS but only in English, will also come to iOS starting in April and will support more languages, including French, German, Chinese, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese . Apple is also introducing AI-driven priority notifications to your lock screen. These notifications are placed at the top of the notification stack and summarize important messages. Automatic message summarization is already available in iOS 18 recently, but has been criticized for errors made by Apple’s AI.
The app also adds new emoji, including a face with bags under its eyes, a fingerprint, a leafless tree, and a shovel. With iOS 18.3, Apple is also adding support for robot vacuums to the Home app, allowing them to be controlled via the app or Siri. The iOS 18.3 and 18.4 updates will include many other innovations that Apple will test in the coming weeks.
