Singer Colonel Reyel, aged 39, released this Friday, June 28, “Aurélie 2”, the sequel to his generational hit released in 2011. It continues the adventures of a young woman who became pregnant at the age of 16.
A sequel thirteen years later. The singer Colonel Reyel released this Friday, June 28, the second part of his hit Aurélie. The title tells the continuation of the adventures of Aurélie, a teenager who was left pregnant in the first title released in 2011.
In this new song, the singer tells how Aurélie recovered from her early pregnancy. “Her daughter’s father quickly fled / She never trusted a man again afterwards / None of them ever found favor in her eyes again (…) Until on the day when the armor / Is pierced with love / Aurélie has become a woman / Passion has become a flame,” declaims Colonel Reyel.
The rest of the song is darker. The singer then evokes a bad encounter that the young woman, now 29 years old, had. A meeting that will be fatal for him. “Her true face revealed / When he disfigured her / So much pain and so many tears / Aurélie will give up the ghost”, macabrely concludes the new title.
An iconic hit
In 2011, the story told by Colonel Reyel moved the French. We followed the setbacks of Aurélie, 16 years old, pregnant and decided to keep her child against the general advice of those around her. “It’s a theme that is close to my heart. There was an Aurélie in my high school at the time in Pantin and I had a friend who got pregnant at the age of 17,” the singer told Pure Charts.
A story that made people cringe at the time. Libération accused the song at the time of being a “manifesto against abortion”. “I didn’t expect to get so much attention. (…) I think it was misunderstood,” defended the singer. At the time, the title had remained in the top 100 singles sales charts for 22 weeks.
