Actress Emma Roberts has called out the double standard when it comes to criticising “nepo babies”, pointing out that actors are not reminded that they made a career out of someone close to them who was famous before them, while women are constantly being reminded of this.

For Emma Roberts, female “nepo babies” are more often the target of criticism than male “nepo babies”. The daughter of Eric Roberts, and niece of Julia Roberts, wants proof that no one ever criticizes George Clooney, even though he also had a known relative before making a career.

Interviewed this week for the podcast “Table for Two”, the actress said what she thought about this injustice. “Why doesn’t anyone criticize George Clooney because he’s a ‘nepo baby’? [Sa tante] Rosemary Clooney was an icon,” she said, recalling that George Clooney’s aunt was indeed a singing star.

The fact that George Clooney is not constantly told that his aunt was famous is, according to Emma Roberts, further glaring evidence of the sexism that actresses face.

Stating that she has absolutely nothing to reproach George Clooney for, the actress stressed that, generally speaking, it was not acceptable for anyone, man or woman, to be criticized for having pursued their dreams.
