He tells the American media that he noticed the desecration of the grave of the British actor, supporting photo. According to him, the Moore family crest was torn down and a miniature replica of the car he drove in one of these films was stolen. The fan, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was “shocked and angry” after this discovery.

A “deterioration of the plaque but no burial violation”

Contacted by Le Parisien, the Monaco town hall explains “that there was damage to the plaque but no violation of the grave”, and adds that “the small car is still on site”. It does not confirm the desecration of Roger Moore’s grave, because “a desecration in the eyes of the law implies human action, but in this situation we know nothing about it. »

If the possibility of voluntary damage cannot be definitively ruled out, the plaque with the coat of arms could have come off “because of poor quality of the glue”, says the town hall. The principality cemetery adds that “bad weather” could have caused damage to the plaque and assures that it will be taken care of.

Monaco-Matin specifies that “the guardians of the Monaco cemetery found the plaque broken into pieces on the edge of the grave”. It should soon be “reattached” after “discussion with the family of the deceased”.

Roger Moore died at the age of 89 in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Having lived in Monaco for many years, the British actor asked to be buried on the Rock.

He was best known for having played Agent 007 seven times in the cinema, between 1973 and 1985, taking up the torch from Sean Connery. The actor, ennobled by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003, also played in television series such as The Saint (1962-1969) where he played Simon Templar, and Yours sincerely (1971-1972). Roger Moore played the role of Lord Brett Sinclair, a dandy aristocrat. An image that has always stuck with him.
