The number of Quebecers who listen to the music of Cowboys Fringants on online platforms has increased since the release of the album Pub Royalaccording to data published by the Institute of Statistics.
The Quebec group is the fourth “performer with the most streams” in our country, according to a list which covers the first five months of 2024.
Only international stars Taylor Swift, Drake and Morgan Wallen – in that order – are ahead of Les Cowboys Fringants.
The last time the Institute of Statistics published such data, at the end of February, before the publication of Pub Royal in April, Les Cowboys Fringants were in 7e position.
Even though it has only been available since the end of April, the moving ballad Let fine you showthe first extract from the album, already ranks sixth among the most listened to Quebec songs on music platforms.
In short, Les Cowboys Fringants are still the darlings of the Quebec public.
Few Quebecers in the top 100
A sign, however, that the discoverability of Quebec music remains an issue on the web, there are only four other Quebecers among the 100 artists most listened to online by Quebecers: Charlotte Cardin (14e), Alexandra Stréliski (43e), Souldia (67e) and Celine Dion, who only collected a distant 91e position.
In the case of Charlemagne’s diva, it will be interesting to see what impact the media coverage surrounding the release of the documentary will have I am: Celine Dion when the Quebec Statistics Institute publishes other rankings later in 2024.

Earlier this year, a report commissioned from a committee of experts by the Minister of Culture, Mathieu Lacombe, identified around thirty avenues to increase the promotion and visibility of French-speaking content on the web.
One of the recommendations suggests that the Quebec government pass a law to ensure “a fundamental right to access and discoverability of original French-language content.”
