Elon Musk has big plans to colonize Mars. But it appears it also has ambitions to expand its real estate footprint on Earth. The Tesla founder and South African billionaire recently acquired a “secret complex” for 35 million dollars (around 32 million euros) in Austin, Texas, reports the New York Times. This large-scale purchase includes three mansions located within a ten-minute walk of each other. Elon Musk hopes to spend time there with his eleven children, while their mothers reside in the “adjacent properties”.
The main property is a vast 1,337 square meter mansion, inspired by Tuscan villas, with a six-bedroom mansion at the rear that he helped to acquire. Elon Musk reportedly resides in a third house, located near his companies SpaceX, X, and the Tesla Gigafactory in the Silicon Hills. To date, only Shivon Zilis, one of his children's mothers, is said to live in the main residence with their three children, while Canadian musician Grimes has “kept away”having left Austin amid an ongoing battle with the billionaire over custody of their three children. (Elon Musk also had six children with his first wife, Justine Wilson, one of whom died at 10 weeks old).
