Since July, Poupette Kenza, pregnant, has been incarcerated in the Rouen remand center (Seine-Maritime). The influencer who is nearing the end of her pregnancy talks about her detention.
On July 3, Poupette Kenza was incarcerated after being indicted for attempted extortion by an organized gang and criminal association. The influencer, followed by millions of people, is eight months pregnant, she tells the Parisian his daily life in detention.
No preferential treatment
As soon as she arrived at the remand center in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), the town where she comes from, conditions were difficult for her. “I’m five months pregnant and I can’t stand the smells. In the jail, I was recognized and I get called all evening, I’m very anxious”she explained.
Due to her pregnancy, the influencer is incarcerated in a special space, at the “nursery”. If the other inmates can accommodate up to three in a 9m² cell, Poupette Kenza is currently in a larger cell, but also individual. “They are the cleanest in detention”underlined Johan Prost, local secretary of the prison union of non-ranking supervisors (SPS), quoted by our colleagues.
If the latter assures that she “does not get preferential treatment because she is famous”the 24-year-old young woman has a shower with hot water, while the other incarcerated people wash in the community, specifies the daily.
A dreaded term
Her real name, Kenza Benchrif, is not reassured and is afraid for her child, as the term of her pregnancy approaches (in a few weeks). “I don’t want to give birth in prison!”she said several times.
But Romain Gomez, local secretary of Force Ouvrière, assures that the follow-up is good. “It is carried out by the health unit doctor. Additional examinations, such as an ultrasound, are carried out at the hospital”he explained. Once finished, the person is taken back to the cell by police officers.
If for the moment the influencer is still behind bars, she should be heard again next week, details The Parisian. Poupette Kenza dreams of freedom and being able to enroll her children in school in France, because they are currently entrusted to a relative of the couple in Dubai.
