Invited on the set of TF1’s 1 p.m. news, hosted by Anne-Claire Coudray on October 5, 2024, Raphaël Glucksmann was questioned about the possibility of representing the left in the next presidential elections. Although the host asked him a direct question, the politician responded in a rather ambiguous way!

Current political issues of the left

The question asked by Anne-Claire Coudray was direct: “The left is pleading for a single candidacy for the next presidential election, can that be you? In two words? Or even in one? Yes or no?”

Raphaël Glucksmann replied: “We are not in 2027, what I want is that by June 2025 we have created a powerful political offer, that we have a project”. He added: “Here we are discussing health, safety, ecology, biodiversity and reindustrialization of the country. That’s what counts! It’s having this project which will be ready in 2025.”

Political preparation and anticipation

Furthermore, Raphaël Glucksmann took advantage of this media outing to criticize the inconsistency of President Emmanuel Macron. He notably declared: “We have the right to be taken by surprise when the president makes the insane decision to dissolve the National Assembly, but we do not have the right to be taken by surprise several times.”. At the same time, he confirmed the ambitions of his political party in the upcoming elections: “We will be ready, and we want to govern this country.” he added.

During this interview, Raphaël Glucksmann therefore chose to focus on developing a clear strategy for his party, without confirming his possible candidacy for the presidency. It is therefore very likely that other figures from the left will be brought to assume this role.
