It’s been more than thirty years since the actor Henri Guybet, alias Salomon in “Rabbi Jacob”, left his native for a village in Essonne. And it was not a foregone conclusion! This was without taking into account the love at first sight he fell for a pavilion in the town.

At the age of 87, Henri Guybet, the famous Solomon in the hit film Rabbi Jacobis the star of his adopted commune, Bouray-sur-Juine, a small village of 2000 inhabitants located in the south of Essonne. Established since 1993 with his sculptor partner, Vivianne, he would not leave his nest for anything in the world.

Henri Guybet installed in a pavilion in a “lamentable state”

Parisian by birth and at heart, nothing would have predestined the former sidekick of Louis de Funès to leave the capital for the charm of a small village. But that was without taking into account the explosion of Parisian rents at the beginning of the 1990s, and the love at first sight that the Guybet couple had for a pavilion in 1993. Located in Bouray-sur-Juine, soldier Yassin of the Seventh Company and his wife therefore found refuge there. “My wife and I arrived in Bouray-sur-Juine 25 years ago, completely by chance. We lived in a beautiful apartment in Paris, but the rent was becoming too high. For me, who was born in the 14th century and who has lived in the 11th arrondissement, leaving the capital was out of the question.”confided the actor to our colleagues at Parisian in 2018 during an intervention in the media of the said village. And to the one who was a reference of boulevard theater to continue: “It was in a terrible state, but it was love at first sight. My wife needed space to set up her sculpture studio and, ultimately, we adapted very well to life here”.

Since then, the couple has never moved! Over time, Henri and Vivianne Guybet have even become essential figures in the village. “We talk about the weather and lots of other things. I’m an ‘everyman’ for them, someone normal”told in the same interview the one who also distinguished himself as a dubbing actor, notably in Toy Story and in 1001 Paws.

Henri Guybet talks about his retirement: “I have everything I need”

Star of his village, Henri Guybet is not drowning in gold. In any case, that’s what he said on the set of Jordan de Luxe on January 15. Christophe Guybet’s father, who also became an actor, confided that he receives €2,500 a month in retirement, which he does not particularly describe as “Good” pension, but which is more than enough for him. “I have my house paid for, my wife, my son and my garden. I have everything I need”he proclaimed loud and clear.
