a first photo of Cillian Murphy on the set of the film revealed

The film “Peaky Blinders” has just started production in the United Kingdom, Netflix announced. The streaming platform took the opportunity to reveal a first photo of Cillian Murphy, in the skin of a graying Tommy Shelby.

First look. Netflix has just revealed a photo of Cillian Murphy in Tommy Shelby’s costume – which reveals some gray hair – to announce the start of filming for the film “Peaky Blinders”. The actor, who played the character in the six seasons of the series broadcast from 2013 to 2022, finds Steven Knight, the creator of the fiction who wrote the screenplay for this feature film with Tom Harper. The story will pick up a few years after the events of the last season, at the dawn of World War II.

“I’m excited to see the cameras rolling for this new chapter in the story of ‘Peaky Blinders’ which will take place during World War II,” Steven Knight told the American site Deadline. “The country is at war, and therefore, inevitably, so are our Peaky Blinders,” he adds. Note that the character of Tommy Shelby will be 49 years old when the conflict breaks out.

In addition to Cillian Murphy, the cast of the film will be able to count on the presence of Rebecca Ferguson (Silo, Dune), Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth. The film is expected sometime in 2025 on Netflix. As a reminder, the streaming platform is currently developing two spin offs of “Peaky Blinders”, one taking place in Boston in the mid-20th century, the other on the youth of Polly Gray, the matriarch of the Shelby clan who was played by the late Helen McCrory.
