actor Daniel Kaluuya to have a statue celebrating his character in the film

According to exclusive information from the American site Variety, the British actor Daniel Kaluuya will be entitled to his statue in the aisles of Leicester Square, in London. This will represent a scene from the character he plays in the film “Get Out”, released in 2017.

A real consecration. British actor Daniel Kaluuya is preparing to have his statue in the alleys of Leicester Square park in London, reports the American site Variety exclusively. This will represent his character in the film “Get Out”, directed in 2017 by Jordan Peele when he finds himself paralyzed under hypnosis. It will be installed among the other statues in the part of the park called “Scenes in the Square”, where there are representations of Harry Potter, Paddington, Mary Poppins, and even Batman.

Winning an Oscar for his performance in “Get Out”, Daniel Kaluuya is “a local British talent” that the city of London is delighted to honor in this way. “We are excited to welcome Daniel Kaluuya and Jordan Peele’s film ‘Get Out’ to our ensemble at ‘Scenes in the Square’, as a celebration of the success of modern cinema and a homegrown talent of British origin,” said Mark Williams, head of the Heart of London Business Alliance.

Fun fact, Daniel Kaluuya was close to ending his career before being contacted by Jordan Peele for the role. The latter explained that he spotted the actor in the second episode of season 1 of the series “Black Mirror”, entitled “Fifteen million merits”. “I didn’t act anymore for a year and a half. I gave up on it because I told myself it wasn’t working. I wasn’t getting any roles, because of racism and that sort of thing. And there, you (Jordan Peele, editor’s note) contact me,” the actor confided to the American site Essence Magazine in July 2022.
