Francis Ngannou surprises: “I will retire at…”

In an interview on Canal+ Sport, former Cameroonian MMA champion Francis Ngannou looked back on his two fights with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

After being at rock bottom following the death of his son, the boxer is gradually getting his taste for life back. The star confides that he would like to retire at 41.

“In both, there was good, there was experience, understanding, I think that now if I go to English boxing, I would have understood a lot of things.

Besides, I want to do more English boxing than before! And if I’m not mistaken, English boxing saw a danger in me.

And if English boxing saw this danger in me, it means there is something. It would be a shame if I stopped there without discovering or highlighting what they are afraid of.

(…) After my son died, I thought about stopping everything. I don’t think that’s what he would have wanted, that it’s what will honor him. I’m 39 years old and I think that at 41, I’m going to retire.”declared Francis Ngannou.

Despite life’s hard knocks, the fighter remains a true inspiration for young people.

“But the truth is, you’re always a Source of motivation.
How were you able to overcome the yoke of famine that was imposed on your family and that was imposed on you?

Even if you don’t know it, it is Yahweh who created favorable times on your path for your rise in MMA and finally in your two boxing fights.

Whether you lose or win, it would not change the fact that many young Cameroonians and Africans identify with your story.
The story of Joseph in the Bible can be experienced by everyone in its context.

But there is a key to living such an upheaval”commented one internet user.
