Indeed, the DGT, Spanish road safety, took the decision to impose this in order to replace the emergency warning triangle. One of the main reasons for this change is security. “Currently, in the event of an accident or breakdown on a motorway or expressway, it is necessary to travel on foot on the roadway to position the warning triangle 50 meters behind the broken down vehicle. Travel 100 meters (round trip from and to the vehicle) walking on the road involves an unnecessary risk”explains the organization. With the new process, to be placed on the roof, it is no longer necessary to leave the passenger compartment.
