Sébastien Bergeron: “On the ground” leadership rewarded with a CHAPO Prize

On November 1, 2024, during the Grand Prix Distinction in Educational Technology Gala, organized by AQUOPS in partnership with the Edteq Association, he won a CHAPO Prize, in the Digital Leadership category. Awarded by AQUOPS, the CHAPO Awards are intended to honor education professionals in Quebec who use digital technology in innovative ways to transform teaching and pedagogy.

Sébastien Bergeron stands out for his proactive approach and his constant presence with the teaching staff and students of his school service center. It firmly believes in the integration of educational digital technology and takes the lead in offering a range of opportunities to develop digital skills for all.

During the 2023-2024 school year, he supported more than 120 teachers and reached nearly 3,000 students in around forty projects, also accumulating more than 200 classroom visits!

The projects it offers are varied and integrative in order to reach as many people as possible: use of Scratch and Makey Makey, programming with micro.bit and MakeCode Arcade, collaborative activities on Minecraft Education, practical workshops on Lego robots, etc. Each activity is carefully linked to specific educational objectives, making it a rewarding experience for students and teachers every time.

An ambassador of digital culture

Sébastien Bergeron does not just intervene in his own school service center. By documenting and exhibiting the projects carried out, it ensures that it inspires other educational actors to adopt similar practices.

For example, its tutorials, turnkey documents and examples of digital projects are accessible to all, demonstrating its desire to democratize digital tools in education.

It also values the work of the teachers and students involved, highlighting their contributions. This collaborative approach strengthens their feeling of competence and inspires other teachers to integrate digital technology into their practices.

Several articles published on the Écolebranchee website have already reported on projects he has initiated:

A lasting impact on educational practices

To guarantee the sustainability of his digital initiatives, Sébastien is relying on several strategic levers. By supporting teachers and providing them with adapted and updated resources, it makes them more confident in integrating technology into the classroom. They quickly see the benefits, without having to worry about technical constraints. They thus develop their expertise through mimicry, which is done gently and becomes more anchored in their practices in order to endure over time.

Bravo!
