After the end-of-year celebrations and Christmas gift shopping, it's time for the traditional winter sales 2025 starting this January. The dates are different in several French departments. Merchants and consumers have high expectations from this new promotional period.
Sales launch on January 8, 2025
In several eastern departments (Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle and Vosges), the sales kicked off earlier, from January 2, to end on January 29. Elsewhere, the launch date is common.
In Lyon and the Rhône department, the winter sales start on Wednesday January 8, 2025 at 8 a.m. The duration of each sales season is set at four weeks. The end date of the winter sales is therefore Tuesday February 4, 2025 inclusive, according to the Ministry of the Economy.
A sales Sunday open for businesses
In December, the Lyon municipal council voted in favor of opening businesses for eight Sundays in 2025. This year, for the winter sales, the city's merchants will be able to open their doors on Sunday January 12.
Several large shopping centers have already announced their opening for the first Sunday of the winter sales: Westfield Part-Dieu and Westfield Confluence will be open in particular.
