The allocation of profit shares of the Swiss National Bank continues to be debated in the canton of Jura. MP Irène Donzé (PLR) recently tabled a motion on the subject. The elected representative of Breuleux asks that any shares of profit from the BNS be paid in the future into the reserve for budgetary policy which is currently dry. Irène Donzé notes, first of all, that the question of the BNS’s profit shares constantly comes up in the context of discussions on the budgets of the canton of Jura. The debates concern whether or not they are taken into account in the functioning of the State. The PLR MP welcomes the fact that the 2025 budget was established by the Jura Government without any part of the BNS while responding to the debt brake. Irène Donzé notes that the budgetary policy reserve is exhausted and believes that it would be good to rebuild a nest egg. The PLR MP therefore considers that it would be coherent to propose that possible future payments from the BNS be allocated directly to the fund in question. It therefore asks the Government to put in place the necessary measures to guarantee the implementation of such a process. The objective therefore aims to “not integrate the shares of the BNS into the State operating account when establishing the budget” and to use them “as relief amounts when circumstances require it”. /comm-fco
