Stellantis launches an internal application

The giant Stellantis aims to revolutionize automobile credit. To speed up the process and avoid bad payers, the group has just launched an application for the purchase of certain Citroën models.

Stellantis is developing a new application linked to automobile credit

Stellantis takes a strategic step forward in the digitalization of its offer by integrating Open Banking for its Citroën Ami and Fiat Topolino electric models. Since December 9, 2024, the Stellantis Finance & Services branch has provided customers with access to a simplified, secure and fully digitalized online purchasing journey. This legal device offers buyers the possibility of sharing their banking data with the financial organization in order to facilitate the creation of files for financing solutions, such as car credit or rental.

Open Banking, or “open banking”, is an innovation resulting from a European directive which aims to streamline financial services by authorizing consumers to transmit their banking information to approved service providers. As part of online sales of Citroën Ami and Fiat Topolino, this technology allows customers to connect directly to their bank via a secure application. In just a few clicks, Stellantis Finance & Services accesses the necessary information, such as statements from the last three months and bank identifier (IBAN), to quickly assess customer creditworthiness.

This innovative approach is part of a desire to improve the user experience while meeting new security and efficiency requirements. This first phase of deployment on the Ami and Topolino models will be gradually extended to other ranges and to physical points of sale by 2025.

Avoid bad payers

This system not only streamlines administrative procedures, but also reduces the risks linked to financing. Thanks to automated, real-time pre-scoring, Stellantis verifies the identity and solvency of customersthus making the process faster and more secure. Thus, the firm can more easily and quickly see which clients are at risk of default or not. This innovation eliminates the delays usually observed when applying for credit or leasing, while minimizing the risk of non-repayment.

The Citroën Ami and Fiat Topolino, compact and electric vehicles, are positioned as accessible and modern urban mobility solutions, perfectly suited to the expectations of a public looking for simplicity and practicality. By associating these models with a system as innovative as Open Banking, Stellantis responds to the demands of an increasingly digitalized market. This solution responds in particular to the needs of a young and urban clientele, but also of professionals wishing to benefit from simplified procedures for the acquisition of ecological vehicles.
