Ryanair, the famous Irish low-cost airline, is preparing its notable arrival at - airport, marking a strategic turning point in its expansion in . From 2025, it will offer two new connections to popular European destinations: Bratislava and Bergamo. An initiative that illustrates Ryanair's commitment to offering accessible and convenient travel for French travelers, while strengthening its European network.

From April 2025: a new milestone for Ryanair

Until now, Ryanair avoided major European airports, favoring platforms like that of (Oise), far from the capital. However, faced with growing demand and thanks to the reorganization of air slots, the Irish company is taking a new step.

Sunday December 1, 2024, the Association for the Coordination of Air Schedules (Cohor) announced a redistribution of time slots at Orly airport. From April 1, 2025, Ryanair will offer regular flights from this airport located south of Paris, offering much more convenient access for Parisian travelers. This strategic establishment marks a new era for Ryanair in Île-de-France, with connections to two very popular destinations.

Two daily flights to Europe

From next spring, Ryanair will inaugurate two daily connections from Paris-Orly:

  • Bergamoin Italy, an entry point to the Milan region, known for its historical heritage and economic dynamism.
  • Bratislavathe capital of Slovakia, a popular destination for its historical charm and economic opportunities.

Every day, two round-trip flights will allow travelers to reach these destinations easily, whether for tourism or business. With 8,112 new slots allocated to Orly, Ryanair is strengthening its presence in Europe, while maintaining attractive prices to attract a varied clientele.

A masterstroke to counter Transavia?

This arrival at Orly represents a direct challenge for Transavia, the subsidiary of Air France, which currently dominates the low-cost flight market in France. Transavia already serves 106 destinations, according to airport figures, and remains the most active operator on this platform. By establishing itself in Orly, Ryanair is relying on a proximity strategy to attract customers accustomed to large airports, while competing with Transavia's varied offering.

This new strategy could well redistribute the cards of the low-cost market in France, opening new perspectives to travelers and promising an intensification of competition between the two companies.
