The leaders of the four main parties of the New Popular Front are all gathered this weekend at the Fête de l’Humanité. Insoumis, socialists, ecologists and communists know that they have many challenges ahead of them to maintain the union of the left and not repeat the failure of the Nupes.

Will the discussion lead to solutions to perpetuate the union? Manuel Bompard (La France insoumise), Olivier Faure (Socialist Party), Marine Tondelier (The Ecologists) and Fabien Roussel (Communist Party) will meet at the Fête de l’Humanité on Saturday 14 September for a round table entitled “The challenges of the New Popular Front”. A vast programme for the left, while the previous attempt to unite within the New Ecological and Social Popular Union (Nupes) ended in failure.

“The need for unity is in everyone’s mind,” believes Génération.s MP Benjamin Lucas. “We have seen the historical importance of this gathering in the face of the prospect of a victory for the extreme right. Everyone must keep that in mind.”
