Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, Marrakech-Menara Airport, Agadir-Al Massira Airport, Fez-Saïss Airport and Rabat-Salé Airport will soon be equipped with electronic gates. These are automated systems that use biometric technology to verify the identity of travelers. These self-service devices allow passengers to pass through immigration control without an agent, thus speeding up boarding and disembarkation.

The operation of electronic gates follows several stages. The traveler inserts his electronic passport into a reader. Then a camera captures his face. The system compares the image with that stored in the passport chip. As soon as the identity is verified, the doors open automatically. The process typically takes less than 15 seconds, providing a quick solution for managing passenger flows.

By adopting these electronic gates, Morocco is part of a global trend of modernization of border controls. This technology has already been adopted by Europe. The introduction of electronic gantries represents an important step towards the digitalization of airport services for Morocco, promising to improve the traveler experience and strengthen security, but also to strengthen the kingdom’s position as a regional air hub.
