Villefranche-de-Lauragais: two lodges will offer fast food next to Carrefour

It’s done ! Since Wednesday June 19, the new supermarket Carrefour Express welcomes its customers in the building formerly occupied by the Spar brand, rue de la République, in Villefranche-de-Lauragais. In a few months, two of the three commercial lodges located on the same level will be taken over by traders.

“The box allocation committee met on Wednesday May 22,” indicates Julien Sidobrethe elected official who pilots the project, Voice of Midi Lauragais. Before saying a little more about the future tenants of the premises.

Tacos and coffee shop

In the large 80 m box²it’s a restaurant chain offering tacos who will settle down. The small 40 m lodge² will be occupied by a coffee shop. “It will offer salads and small dishes to eat quickly,” specifies Julien Sidobre.

“These two lodges will offer takeaway foodbut also on site since they will have a small conviviality space to sit down,” continues the Villefranchois elected official.

Opening hoped for in September

If its initial plan was to open these boxes at the same time as the Carrefour Express, the town hall had to review its plans. “There are a lot of administrative constraints. They will be able to peacefully arrange their lodge this summer and we hope to open in September if all goes well,” emphasizes Julien Sidobre.

Note that the third box of 45 m² located on this same level has not yet been allocated. “Merchants who are interested can always apply. We want something different from what we already have on the first two,” announces the elected official.

A gourmet market in 2025

If the central floor will therefore fill up over the coming months, the town hall is already working on its construction project. gourmet hall which it wishes to develop on the lower level of the building, accessible from avenue de la Fontasse.

” We have one 130 m lodge² which will form a bit of a junction with the top and in which we wish to accommodate a store that could be the driving force of this floor, as Carrefour will be above. We would like a food trade proposing an offer which does not yet exist in the municipality”, projects the municipal councilor, indicating that all applications will be studied and that the lodge can be made available quite quickly. We know, for example, that the possibility of welcoming a fish shop has been mentioned several times in the past.

For the rest of this gourmet market, however, we will have to wait until 2025. “For the moment, nothing has been decided. But we already have some requests, because the concept appeals. The idea would be to have six to seven boxes around a central space with tables and chairs so that people can eat on site with products from different businesses,” explains Julien Sidobre.
