The production of 1 liter bottles of Perrier would be threatened due to the deterioration of water quality, according to an investigation by the newspaper Le Monde and Radio France. Employees of the ore carrier owned by Nestlé Waters are worried about the future of their site.

Employees demanded answers from their management while the operation of two of its seven wells was suspended for disinfection.

These two suspensions were added to that of another capture, ordered in April by the prefect of Gard, after the discovery of bacteria “of fecal origin”. Nestlé Waters then had to destroy several hundred thousand bottles of Perrier.

With the suspension of these wells used to produce natural mineral water, Nestlé Waters would no longer have the volumes necessary to produce 1 liter bottles of Perrier, according to French media.

“Regular” maintenance operation

For its part, Nestlé told Keystone-ATS that this is simply a “regular maintenance operation”. The multinational ensures that production of Perrier 1 liter green is not stopped.

At the start of the year, Nestlé Waters was splashed by revelations regarding the use of prohibited treatments for mineral waters, in order to guarantee risk-free consumption according to Nestlé, whether in Switzerland in Henniez, or in France, where it also operates the Vittel, Contrex and Hépar brands.
