(Keystone-ATS) The Swiss residential property price index (IMPI) thus stood at 118.2 points (100 points in the 4th quarter of 2019), specify the Confederation’s statisticians. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the increase reached 1.7%.

Compared to the previous quarter, prices increased both for individual houses (+0.3%) and for owner-occupied apartments (PPE) (+0.7%).

Geographically, individual houses have increased the most in the urban municipalities of a large urban area and in the urban municipalities of a medium-sized urban area (+0.7%). They decreased only in so-called intermediate municipalities (-0.1%).

In the case of owned apartments, prices also increased particularly in the urban municipalities of a medium-sized agglomeration (+2.0%). Only rural municipalities showed falling prices for these objects (-1.9%).

Published by the OFS on a quarterly basis since the 3rd quarter of 2020, the IMPI is calculated on the basis of around 7,000 transactions on average, carried out in the different regions of Switzerland. The data is collected from the 28 largest Swiss mortgage institutes.
