There have been so many in the last eighteen months that counting is impossible. Open letters, joint appeals, publication of manifestos: engineers, scientists and members of NGOs have increased their speeches to warn of the risks linked to artificial intelligence (AI). This Tuesday, a new appeal was launched. And it is interesting in several ways.

This open letter, available at https://righttowarn.ai, is special. Entitled “A right to alert on advanced artificial intelligence”, it is signed by a restricted group: 13 people. All work or have worked at OpenAI (publisher in particular of ChatGPT) and Google, some display their name, others not, and the missive is supported in particular by Geoffrey Hinton, considered one of the “founding fathers” of AI .
