Obtaining confidential information such as banking, identity or health data by cybercriminals is increasing in France. Faced with the increase in fraud on the internet and by telephone, the operator Orange has just launched two new services intended to better protect us.

With the development of digital technology, the French are increasingly exposed to cyber risks. According to a study*, 2 out of 3 of them receive suspicious calls, emails or SMS messages every week. However, only 15% of them say they feel well protected from digital risk**. Faced with this acceleration in fraud on the Internet and by telephone, the operator Orange has decided to react.

Orange Cyberdéfense is in fact today the European leader in cybersecurity. 9,000 large companies trust it. The subsidiary of the French telecommunications company has some 3,000 experts spread across 22 countries. Among them, 80 work in Toulouse, in an ultra-secure eight-story building in the Cartoucherie district. It was there, at the Grand Sud-Ouest regional headquarters, that the subsidiary presented its solution called “Orange Cybersecure” which is made up of two services.

The “Orange Cybersecure” offer was presented at the beginning of the week at the operator’s regional headquarters in Toulouse.

A free verification portal

Since Thursday, June 6, a website dedicated to cybersecurity has been operational. This new platform is free and accessible to all. It allows you to check the legitimacy of a website, an email, a link or even a dubious SMS. By simply copying/pasting into this search engine, you will be fixed. If the link is already known the response is instantaneous. If it is not, Orange Cyberdéfense experts will analyze its reliability and add the result to its database to continuously enrich it. The response time is from a few minutes for the simplest cases to a maximum of 8 hours for the most complex.

The system, which is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) equipped with a learning algorithm, must make it possible to create the best database to collectively fight against everyday cyberattacks. Orange’s ambition is to have one million users by the end of the year.

A paid security pack

The other solution offered, the Orange Cybersecure pack, is aimed at all households with at least one Orange or Sosh line. This paid service takes the form of a subscription of €7 per month without commitment. It allows its user to secure up to ten devices (computers, mobiles, tablets) against malicious acts such as internet scams, data hacking, or even fraudulent applications and sites. More than a simple antivirus, this service is continuously enriched for automatic updating. The pack also includes solutions to block unwanted mobile and landline calls. It also offers support provided 7 days a week by dedicated Cyber specialists.

“To set up the automatic verification and blocking system, you simply need to install a specific tool on your terminals” explains Nicolas Brochot, the Orange Occitanie regional delegate. For Marc Sztulman, president of Cyber’Occ and Occitanie regional advisor responsible for digital, “this offer, cheaper than a sandwich, is important for the region because it promotes good practices in our private lives and this will reflect on our professional life. » Orange hopes to attract 10,000 new customers per month nationally with this pack.
