To the great surprise of many, snow appeared in the four corners of Quebec this weekend. However, Mother Nature doesn’t seem to know which way to go when the snow and cold are expected to give way to possible heat records for Halloween.
As of Saturday morning, snowflakes were already present in several sectors of Quebec, including Abitibi as well as the north of Saguenay, in the Monts-Valin, where the snow is already abundant.

So as not to make anyone jealous, Gaspésie was also served even though a significant amount of snow fell on Sunday, which complicated travel for many. Up to 20 centimeters were even forecast in places, according to MétéoMédia.

If the greater Quebec region only received a few flakes during the day on Sunday, carpets of snow nevertheless took shape in Mauricie and certain sectors of Charlevoix which received a little less than a centimeter of snow.
The Charlevoix region also received snow this weekend. However, it should not last long. Photo taken in the Saint-Urbain area.

Winter lovers will, however, have to be patient for a while longer since, in the majority of affected areas, it should disappear sooner rather than later.
Mauricie was not spared: a carpet of snow was present in the La Tuque sector on Sunday morning.

What to expect for Halloween?
Quebecers could also be treated to higher than normal temperatures this week for Halloween, so much so that heat records could even be broken in certain cities.
In Montreal, for example, Environment Canada is forecasting 21 degrees Celsius on Thursday, a little higher than the record of 20.5 degrees Celsius for October 31, set in 2003.
As for Quebec, the federal agency is forecasting a cloudy day and a maximum of 18 degrees, while in Trois-Rivières, the mercury could reach up to 19 degrees Celsius.
Although the sun will be out during the day, showers could spoil the party during the collection, notably in Saguenay, Montreal as well as in several other cities in the south of the province, given that the Intermittent rain is forecast overnight.
Not just in Quebec
Quebec is no exception, temperatures above seasonal norms being expected almost everywhere in eastern North America.
In Boston and New York, The Weather Network forecasts 23 degrees for the day of October 31, while the forecast temperature in Philadelphia is 26 degrees.
Normal in these cities is 15, 13 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively, according to ABC News.
The city of Chicago could also set a new record with 26 degrees.
