The telecoms market continues to evolve in Belgium. A quick summary of everything that is changing during this period, marked by the disappearance of a brand.

It’s over for Zuny

Zuny, Voo’s brand, has officially disappeared from the radar. Since September 10, it is no longer possible to subscribe to an offer from the operator. Its disappearance is linked to the takeover of Voo’s activity by but also very certainly to the poor performance of the brand, which, it must be said, never really broke through. Zuny customers will gradually be repatriated to hey! by January 2025. More details here.

Proximus tue son application Banx

The result of a collaboration between the operator Proximus and the Belfius bank, the “Banx” application is already bowing out. Launched with great success in 2021, the application was supposed to revolutionize the concept of online banking. However, it was not successful and three years later, the service closed its doors. Here too, Belfius has everything planned since it will repatriate existing customers to its main app. Those who refuse the migration will be able to close their account.

Towards complete encryption of RCS

If several SMS applications already make it possible to encrypt your RCS messages (or SMS 2.0) from end to end (i.e. to fully protect against opportunistic eyes, whether from hackers or from companies that transmit this data), the GSMA has announced to make RCS encryption universal. In practice, this will mean that whatever app you use to send a text or image (iMessage or Google Messages for example), your messages will be automatically encrypted. No more reason to worry!

More data for Proximus customers

The operator Proximus surprised everyone by announcing to offer more mobile data to some of its customers. However, only subscribers who have subscribed to a pack offer are concerned. Mobile Flex S subscribers see their package include 15 GB of surfing instead of 12. Flex M subscribers go from 80 to 85 GB and Unlimited subscribers from 350 to 400 GB. The prices remain the same.
