Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Itana, a Nigerian company specializing in the management of digital economic zones, will implement a digital economic zone project in Lagos, Nigeria, in order to support technological expansion in Africa, announces a press release from the ‘AFC, dated September 26, 2024, consulted by Ouestaf News.
The initiative, sealed by a partnership, aims to support the development of technology companies in Africa, “a crucial step towards the creation of a prosperous center for the African digital economy”, explains the CEO of the AFC, Samaila Zubairu, cited by the same source. He sees this as a way to consolidate the progress already noted in the areas of innovation, job creation and sustainable development across the continent.
According to the AFC, this digital zone will also allow pan-African and global companies in the technology, finance and services sectors to “easily grow” across the continent by “unleashing the digital economy”.
Africa Finance Corporation adds that with this zone, companies can incorporate and operate their businesses remotely with legislation adapted to the digital economy.
This digital zone will be hosted in Alaro City, a town in Lagos, on more than 2,000 hectares in the Lekki Free Zone, says the AFC.
