Faced with this persistent problem, Af2m (French Association of Mobile Operators) recently modernized site 33700, designed to facilitate the reporting of unsolicited communications. The site now offers a more intuitive interface with expanded reporting options, such as screenshots and an online form, allowing for faster processing of complaints. Once the report has been made, it is transmitted to the user’s operator and the operator of the number concerned for processing. This process is free, which reinforces the accessibility of the service.

The 33700 gets a makeover

The updated site offers two main methods for reporting: via a standard form or by screenshot, the latter being really easy since you just need to scan a QR code directly with the smartphone. This underlines the platform’s commitment to making reporting as simple and quick as possible. Each report is an act contributing to the “ digital peace » of all, assures the platform.

The 33700, created in 2008, is the result of close collaboration between Af2m and the Fraud Repression Department (DGCCRF). This initiative was put in place to respond to the growing nuisance of unsolicited calls and messages, by providing consumers with a simple and direct way to report this abuse.

Included in the Consumer Code since 2014 (in article 224-51), 33700 is a central and little-known tool in the consumer protection system against abusive canvassing practices. The platform has evolved over the years, adapting to new technologies and the tactics of marketers.

In addition to 33700, other means are available to consumers to protect themselves against telephone canvassing. The Bloctel platform, although limited to certain canvassing categories, offers free registration to block unwanted sales calls. Consumers can also opt for registration on the red list via their telephone operator’s customer area. In addition, the Signal Conso site offers the possibility of directly reporting any abuse in terms of canvassing, whether spam or door-to-door canvassing, to fraud prevention.

These tools, while effective, are routinely circumvented by companies who exploit vulnerabilities or specifically target their own customers. So, despite significant progress in the fight against unwanted calls and text messages, it is still very complicated to be completely peaceful with your phone!
