Al Akhawayn: les lauréats du HPS Innovation Weekend

The “HPS Innovation Weekend”, organized by Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) in partnership with HPS, closed on Sunday after an intense weekend dedicated to the exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the area of payments.

At the end of the three days of competition, the “InnovateHer” team won first prize at the “HPS Innovation Weekend”.

Hajar Hssine, a student at Al Akhawayn University and member of “InnovateHer”, expressed her joy at winning first place in the hackathon “We are delighted to have participated in this great event which allowed us to share our ideas and demonstrate our creativity,” she said.

The “InnovateHer” project aims to integrate artificial intelligence within companies to streamline communication between departments and employees, and facilitate access to information. “We are very proud to have won this prize and to be able to make our project a reality,” underlined Hssine.

The innovative projects presented by the students impressed the jury, made up of representatives of large companies and institutions from the financial and innovation sector in Morocco.

Aalya Ghouli, member of the HPS Innovation Weekend jury and Head of the FinTech & Startup ecosystem for Africa within the BNP Paribas group, expressed her deep “enthusiasm” at the quality of the projects presented by the students of the AUI.

“We have just witnessed a very high quality challenge,” she declared.

She was particularly impressed by the level of excellence demonstrated by the participants. “A truly exceptional level with projects addressing concrete everyday issues, addressed with an innovative and creative approach,” she underlined.

This creativity and mastery of current issues made the jury’s task particularly difficult. “We were faced with a difficult choice, because the quality of the projects was such that we had difficulty deciding between the different teams who worked with a lot of energy and determination throughout the weekend,” explained Ghouli.

This collective performance of the students reflects the high level of education in Morocco, a positive point that Ghouli was quick to welcome.

“It is very encouraging to see the current level of education in Morocco,” she added, also welcoming the commitment of Moroccan youth to innovation, a dynamic which fits perfectly into the strategy digital 2030 of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.

This strategy, which aims to promote innovation within the Moroccan ecosystem, finds a particularly strong echo in the commitment of students, she said, noting that this hackathon was an opportunity to demonstrate the potential young students.

For her part, Leila Laaroussi, head of Kluster CFCIM, expressed her satisfaction at having participated in the jury of this event which highlights the talent of young entrepreneurs.

She highlighted the exceptional quality of the students’ presentations, who were able to propose relevant and innovative projects in record time.

“It’s always a pleasure to see young students pitch, and we are always dazzled by the quality of their proposals, especially since they only had one weekend to work,” she commented. .

Aware of the effort made by the participants, Laaroussi recognized the difficulty of choosing the three winning teams, noting that the Kluster CFCIM is “proud to be able to support these young entrepreneurs in the development of their projects”.

According to the organizers, the “HPS Innovation Weekend” demonstrated the potential of Moroccan students to innovate in the field of AI and payments. The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities and businesses to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

“The projects developed during the Hackathon could have a significant impact on the future of payments in Morocco and beyond,” said Garry Ceaplen, General Director-Business Innovation at HPS.
