The Council of State rejected, according to a dispatch published by AFP this Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the appeals brought in summary proceedings by the channels C8, NRJ 12 and Le Média, ruling that the condition of urgency is not “not filled“. As a reminder, the three channels were not chosen by Arcom, the audiovisual regulator, this summer during the procedure for reassigning DTT frequencies.

In July 2024, Arcom had unveiled its pre-selection for the reallocation of 15 TV frequencies in 2025, ruling out the renewal of NRJ 12 and C8 whose lease expires at the end of February 2025 and not retaining the radical left-wing web TV Le Média. Instead of the channels of the Canal+ and NRJ groups, Arcom had opened the way for DTT to Réels TV, a file supported by billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, and Ouest France TV which belongs to the eponymous group. However, the channels still in the running will only obtain their broadcasting authorization after signing new agreements with the regulator, by the end of the year.
