Local director reassured by Paris for the resumption of negotiations tomorrow

The director of EDF PEI, in a letter, confirms the Guadeloupean director as the sole negotiator in the conflict affecting the local branch. Frédéric Maillard calls for discussions to resume tomorrow (September 25, 2024), without Jimmy Thélémaque, secretary of CGTG Énergie. The union had announced a 10-day suspension of negotiations while waiting for an interlocutor from .

While negotiations have been suspended since last Friday, the president of EDF PEI, Frédéric Maillard, is calling for discussions to resume this Wednesday, September 25, without waiting for the return of Jimmy Thélémaque, secretary of CGTG Énergie, who is currently traveling.

The union demanded a change of contact for EDF PEI, a request that management therefore refused.

In a letter addressed to Nathanaël Verin, CGTG union delegate at the EDF PEI power station at Pointe Jarry, Frédéric Maillard reaffirms his confidence in the Guadeloupean director Gaëlle Paygambar to lead the talks, despite the union’s request to involve a Parisian manager.

In this letter, EDF PEI specifies that the employees’ pay slips comply with the legislation and are similar to those of all 70,000 EDF employees in .

The union also raised questions regarding the transmission of personal data of 47 employees. Management indicates that this information will be provided by September 27, 2024, in compliance with current regulations.

The director of EDF PEI also deplored the methods of the striking employees, who, although “kept in post“, refused to “start enough engines to ensure the electricity supply” of the archipelago.

Jimmy Thélémaque’s response was not long in coming. From Paris, where he is detained by obligations related to the Staff Representative Bodies within the Albioma Group, Jimmy Thélémaque responded to the letter from Frédéric Maillard, President of EDF PEI.

In a tweet, the secretary of CGTG Energy indicates that he is in Paris, held up by obligations related to the Staff Representative Bodies within the Albioma Group. He strongly criticizes the attitude of the EDF PEI manager, whom he accuses of shirking his responsibilities, refusing to “do after-sales service“commitments made during the February 2023 strike.

According to him, Frédéric Maillard is trying to let the strike drag on, by hiding behind Gaëlle Paygambar, a local executive at the company.

Jimmy Thélémaque highlights the difference in treatment between Gaëlle Paygambar and her predecessor, Erwan Collet, a non-native executive who enjoyed the direct support of President Maillard. He then wonders whether this difference in posture could be due to a form of malicious sexism on the part of management.

A more detailed communication from the federation is announced to inform the Guadeloupean population of the continuation of this conflict, he wrote at the end of the tweet.
