Onet-le-Château. Simon Worou: a testimonial book to reconnect with “human”

Except for his emblematic cap firmly fixed on his head, it is his luminous eyes imbued with truth and his sincere smile which invite people to meet and share.

For this humanist, “each encounter is a treasure, as long as we know how to take the time to listen and are able to strip ourselves of our first impressions and our preconceptions, which contrary to what we may think, are often false…”. For Simon Worou, it is this kindness, this curiosity and this love of others, which is the key to real life, it is a form of commitment which undoubtedly arouses the desire to confide. These are multiple testimonies that the author has collected, often by chance, like so many “slices of life” pointing out the difficulties and even the challenges that we all face and in which we find ourselves throughout the pages of “Meetings and confidences – our 1001 ways of living“, published very recently by Tout latitude, which he dedicated, on Saturday, to the cultural space…

This ability to listen is most certainly the result of an extraordinary life journey, which he recounts in his first autobiographical novel “Simon Worou, child of Togo and mayor of Aveyron”but he recognizes it, if the function of mayor induces numerous exchanges, confidences and often even grievances, this is not the breeding ground which nourished this book. “Before being mayor, I am above all a human being and I think that people immediately feel how available and attentive I am. But we become individualized, so we move away more and more from the others… but for fear of what? We must ask ourselves: if we don't do it, we are complicit in what we don't like…”

An “antidote” book that opens up a whole universe of possibilities, a wonderful book, like a smile and a hope, in life, to read without moderation.
