For the month of September in my Kube Majuscule, I chose to receive a book from the selection of the month.
The Kube is THE only tailor-made reading box that contains a book chosen especially for each reader, by an independent bookseller, as well as surprises that change every month.
Every month in the box we find a large format book or a new product chosen by a bookseller according to the tastes, choices and desires expressed at the time of the order. This is an exclusive literary discovery, which you will not find anywhere else (an unpublished short story, for example). There are also other little surprises to enhance the pleasure of reading.
It’s always a pleasure to order the book of the month with some instructions. Then, wait for the package to arrive and discover its contents. I never tire of it and I am always very happy with the selections from the KUBE or partner bookseller.

The book of the month selected by the bookseller based on our desires in Large Format version: The Jealous – James Lee Burke
This novel by James Lee Burke takes place in 1952 in Texas. The story follows Aaron Holland Broussard, a seventeen-year-old teenager, whose life changes after he meets Valérie in a drive-in. This relationship puts him in conflict with Valérie’s ex, Grady Harrelson, a rich and vengeful boy.
The novel explores, among other things, the following themes: The transition to adulthood: The young characters, mainly male, are torn between their desire to behave like men and the constraints of their age (studies, work, parental authority). And Rivalries and Jealousies: Grady’s jealousy of Aaron sets off a series of events involving their friends and families, creating tension and conflict between the different clans.
The atmosphere is rather dark and tense, reflecting the conflicts between individuals and social classes. Musical references punctuate the story, reinforcing the immersion. I find the writing to be deep, powerful and realistic. It is a strong work, focused on the evolution of the characters and their quest for integrity.
