In 2024, for its third edition, the Read for Action prize counted more than 2,200 readings in the 53 partner libraries and structures. Organized by the Maison de l'Environnement de la Métropole de Lyon, this prize aims to reward Books around the ecological transition.
For Vanessa Minarro, librarian and responsible for literary prizes, a book on the ecological transition must move people and arouse the desire to act. Three prizes were then awarded: that of adult readers, that of librarians and, for the first time, that of children.
The 2024 edition closed during a festive afternoon at the Maison de l'environnement at the end of November. The public could then participate in workshops and activities. The teams have also designed these activities in connection with one of the works in the selection. Between frescoes of new stories, creation of committed badges and even anti-waste cooking, the activities did not fail to make us think.
Vanessa also recalls the importance of imagining bridges between reading and taking action. According to her, this edition is a success and she hopes to have created inspiration among the participants.
