La Ferté-Saint-Aubin. Powerful wren. The La Ferté-Saint-Aubin library welcomed the actress Catherine Gautier, for a reading of the book The wren by Jean-François Beauchemin. A book voted “favorite 2024” by the establishment’s reading club.
“It’s all about balance”
“Sensitive” book on a “sensitive” subject, The wren evokes the long and contrasting journey of the author-narrator, with his brother suffering from schizophrenia. From childhood to adulthood, from anecdotes to deep questions, Catherine Gautier’s interpretation was able, around extracts chosen between lightness and seriousness, to capture the atmosphere of the story, navigating between worry, sometimes incomprehension, but also joy and tenderness.
“The challenge of these moments of reading is to stay close to the author’s words, his intention and to mix them with my own sensitivity. It’s all about balance,” explains the actress.
The audience, which filled the auditorium, was not mistaken and let itself be carried away in the atmosphere of the story by the enveloping voice of the actress, skillfully supported by an eclectic selection of musical breaks.
Catherine Gautier, an actress from Orléans, regularly works with the Mobile Reading Units at the Orléans hospital, with patients from different departments. She also lends her voice to recordings of audio Books, in particular with Sixtrid editions.
