This Saturday, December 7, in front of a packed room, Diane Masclary presented her book “Pins-Justaret, d'histoire(s) en histoire”, just published.
Arriving in this town at the age of 6 months, the co-president of the POPP association (Passeurs Occitans du Petit Patrimoine) never left Pins-Justaret, in turn starting her family there. And it was in particular by writing articles on the history of the city that Diane Masclary, during her 20 years of correspondence with La Dépêche du Midi, developed a passion for heritage, the transmission of memories, and small stories in the big one.
His book is also the fruit of extensive research and numerous interviews with the descendants of the great families of Pins-Justaret, who opened their doors to him and entrusted their archives. This sharing of memories also allowed these families to reconnect with their own roots. Among them, the Pins family, founder of the commune, the Mauléon family, having worked on the development of Pins-Justaret, notably with the creation of a dispensary and having lived in the castle, or even the family of Paulette Amans, who there worked.
Also, it was in front of the representatives of these lineages, in front of the numerous subscribers of the book, the elected officials, and with the complicity of Nicolas Garaud who accompanied the evening with songs, that Diane Masclary expressed her emotion and warmly thanked all the people having enabled the publication of his work. She also praised the municipality which hosted this event in the municipal council room, the former castle lounge.
Summarizing her long-term work as “a beautiful human adventure”, the author then took part in the signing session with enthusiasm, while the festive atmosphere continued around a glass of friendship.
The book “Pins-Justaret, from history(s) to history” offers, over its 270 pages, a journey into the past and the discovery of memories and images of a bygone era but still alive in the memories.
The work is available to order from the P.OP.P association. ([email protected]) or from Christophe Oliver, press-bookseller on avenue de Villate.
