Note that for this edition, almost half of the authors are coming to the seaside town for the first time. The guests of honor are: Chantal De Rudder et Frédéric Zeitoun.
Round tables
Michel Delépine, the mayor, emphasizes that the book fair is “accessible to everyone, regardless of age. There’s always something that makes you want to come there and take the bait.”
This year it could be round tables, which are organized for the second time. They will be offered from 2 p.m., at the same time as the signings continue.
“The objective is for the author to present a very specific theme,” indicates Jean-Claude Flament.
Lawyer Murielle Bellier-Kant will launch the conference cycle. In her latest work, she tells the story of her family who experienced deportation to Siberia during the Second World War before finding refuge in Kazakhstan.
At 2:50 p.m., it will be Frédéric Zeitoun’s turn to talk about his experience. The guest of honor will discuss a theme that is familiar to him, “ people with reduced mobility in our society.”
The other guest of honor, Chantal De Rudder will then take her place from 3:40 p.m. She will share her experience as a great reporter and editor-in-chief of Le Nouvel Observateur. His latest work: “The Veil”, allows us to address the freedom to wear it, or not.
From 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., Jean-Michel Delambre, the designer and caricaturist will conclude these round tables, he will discuss the right to caricature in the written press.
New this year, the town hall offers a discount voucher €10 to each child at the Mers-les-Bains school to encourage them to attend this show. “It’s a first,” says the councilor. This represents a total of 135 children, from kindergarten to primary school. Several children's authors will be present in the aisles. “A beautiful show in perspective,” concludes Jean-Claude Flament, who is already preparing next year’s edition.
