Students at Le Sommet high school in Quebec City were caught organizing boxing “activities” during lunchtime, forcing management to ask parents to intervene.
According to an email to parents of students who attend the school, young people regularly go to the grounds of the nearby Sibéria Spa to compete in front of “spectators”.
Students, volunteers, would establish their own rules to determine the winners of the fights, we can read in the email in question. It was after reading these videos that the organization realized the seriousness of the situation.
“This type of behavior is dangerous and carries a high risk of accidents which can be very physically damaging,” the management indicated in its missive, asking parents to intervene with their children.
Not one Fight Club
However, if the email sent to parents suggested that these clashes had the appearance of Fight Clubthis is not the case. According to our information, it would rather be young boxing enthusiasts who come together to learn techniques among themselves.
The school is also looking for premises to allow them to carry out their activity in a safe manner, according to our sources.
No complaint of assault has been filed, confirms the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), which has been notified of the situation.
“We learned that there is a enthusiasm among young people in general for this type of activity. Awareness was quickly raised by the school regarding the risks associated with this type of activity,” mentions the Premières-Seigneuries School Service Center, invited to comment on the situation.
