The Nîmes novelist Cathy Davril has transposed her first work into a musical version, The wooden swordwritten in 1999. A musical version released in 2023 by Numéro7 editions, and whose originality is the soundtrack which accompanies the book in the form of a QR code.

“It is a political intrigue which takes place in a period of transition of the Roman Empire which was in decline, under the reign of Emperor Domitian, during the period of persecution of Christians, transposed to Nemausus, the twin sister of Rome, with typical characters of this period who will be swept away in the turmoil”, she explains. From her seven years of Latin during her studies, and the numerous Roman sites existing in the region, she kept a taste for the peplum, rather than the Middle Ages, which earned her literary prizes in 2001 and 2002 for her book Colonia Nemausensis.

The goal of his novels? Let readers learn about the lives of the Romans and their history in an entertaining way. In addition to her talents as a writer, Cathy Davril is also an author of songs, and has enlisted the services of the renowned composer, Roger Loubet, who has worked for numerous artists, including Michel Sardou, Johnny Hallyday, Serge Lama… and a certain Mike Brant.

In 2023, a complete album was released performed by the composer's own wife: Yona Pax. “Today, the goal is to find a serious producer to put on the show, specifies the young woman. Mbut it’s very complicated because you have to have sets, costumes and actors, and it’s a budget…”.

His ultimate dream is for this show to be staged in the arenas of the city of Antonin. This book is currently available in Nîmes, in its musical version, at the Librairie Teissier and Aux Lettres de mon Moulin. “Any bookseller can order it,” she says to conclude.
