The cookbook “Hakafy Tsiro” by Chef Henintsoa Moretti is among the finalists of the largest cookbook competition, Gourmand Awards. The book is competing in three categories, namely A09 Celebrity Chef, B31 Field Work and C13 Africa.

The title of “Best in the World” will be announced in June 2025, during a gala dinner in Lisbon, Portugal.

Created in 1995 by Eduard Cointreau, the Gourmand Awards reward the best cookery and wine books each year.

The objectives of the awards are to reward and honor those who “cook with words”, help readers and food lovers find the best books, help publishers with international rights to translate and distribute their works, help booksellers find and offer the customer the 50 best cookery and wine books of the year, allow books published around the world to access major markets in English, Chinese, German, Spanish or French, and promote an enriching tolerance for all by increasing knowledge and respect for different culinary cultures.

As a finalist in this prestigious competition, the Hakafy Tsiro book now has the right to display the red “Winner” logo of the Gourmand Awards. This distinction constitutes a reference for readers and gastronomy enthusiasts looking for the best cooking recipe books, it is emphasized.

Released in January 2024, “Hakafy Tsiro” is a true ode to Malagasy gastronomy. The work offers 22 recipes inspired by the different regions where chef Henintsoa Moretti met holders of local culinary know-how, allowing her to concoct authentic dishes.

Much more than a recipe book, “Hakafy Tsiro” is a journey through Malagasy culinary heritage.

The book, officially published on February 11, 2024, will be republished in December 2024 with two versions of each recipe, in Malagasy and French.
