His favorite quote:

« So that future generations who will undoubtedly populate this newly prosperous valley do not in any way alter her immortal love, she endows the river with strong and vigorous currents that no one except her and certainly her descendants will ever be able to cross. »

Why this book?

  • Because the character of Autumn and her adventure thrill us and produce a lot of suspense, numerous encounters and stunning situations!
  • Because the narrative form that Julia Brandon uses is even better than in his “Passengers” saga. Detail of the dialogues and depth of the characters! The pen is both dynamic and yet so meticulous…
  • Because there is the strength of works from this author, imagination to spare, fantasy mixed with reality, the kind of books that should be adapted for the cinema as a priority.

The essentials in 2 minutes

The plot. This book tells the story of Autumn, who discovers a mysterious man, Silas, with magical powers. Fleeing her brother’s cruelty, Autumn and Silas bond and seek to elucidate magical mysteries, while facing dangers and dark truths…

The characters. Autumn, main character; Silas, a mysterious man with magical powers; Jonas, Autumn’s cruel brother; Eugénie, Autumn’s mother; Tomio, Autumn’s companion; Maria, the servant; Christ, a painter linked to Jonas’ past; Fritz, a fisherman at Lake Jüks (without saying too much)…

The places. An imaginary world where we find Autumn’s house, the central square, the well where Silas hides, the forest, Jonas’ workshop, the Idos market, Novus Mundus, Lake Jüks, Mulberry Popina, the village of Adone, the sheepfold of Gus, and the desert valley which is called… To discover!

The era. The story of “Vita” by Julia Brandon takes place in a fictional medieval era, characterized by elements of daily rural life, villages, markets, horsemen, and rudimentary medical or magical practices…

The author. Julia Brandon, an author from , is already at the origin of a first fantastic saga (perhaps related…) called “The Passengers”. His writing, which is inspired and breathes cinema, is very dynamic and pleasant to read.

This book has been read as a true fantasy thriller! Suspense, emotion, magic, investigations, false leads… many ingredients brought together with maturity in a single novel. Apart from a slightly dark beginning, not recommended for young people, this book is multi-generational.
