After multiple adaptations on the small and big screen of the love story between Elizabeth and Darcy, it is Mary’s turn to be entitled to her own series. This is one of the daughters of the Bennet family. If you don’t know her, that’s normal. She’s the shyest of all. The Bad Wolf company, behind Doctor Who and His Dark Materials, is responsible for producing the ten-episode series, the cast of which has not yet been revealed, for the BBC. The release date has also not been announced, but the screenplay is reportedly currently being written.
This fiction is the adaptation of a short story called The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow, published in 2020. This work is inspired by the cult work Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. We discover in this literary homage what could have been the story of Mary Bennet, the ugly duckling of the siblings, who much prefers to keep her nose in her books rather than going to countless balls with high society. For the moment, this book is only available in English, but a French translation should be ordered if the series is successful internationally (which we have no doubt about).
