REVIEW – In Beirut, these days, the memories and last impulses of an old couple.

In 1970, at the age of 24, Léonora left Rome for Lebanon, where she entered the convent of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary in Beirut. Two years later, the young Italian woman lost her faith and met the attractive Salim Mawal, from a large Christian family. Today, Léonora still lives in her husband’s palace, surrounded by a couple of Filipino servants, Démi and Sari, and a young French lady-in-waiting named Venise. Salim, for his part, has settled into a hotel on the Corniche with a view of the sea. After almost half a century of living together, these two people remain united by their love, but the old woman’s health is declining. His eyesight is failing, his mind is sometimes confused. Now is the time for her to take stock and remember. How can we forget Yaman, her other great passion, this Turkish filmmaker for whom she abandoned Salim and their son Riad for a time? Riad, who never forgave his mother for this flight and who reproaches her for her generous humanist ideas…
