Several book boxes brand new were installed on different sites in the city center of Houlgate () in recent days. Two at André Fauvel parkone at Rose garden. These new elements of street furniture were designed and manufactured 100% by Didier Lecoq and Nicolas Heuzé, agents municipal technical serviceswith the assistance of the roads department for the installation.

“The instructions were to design book boxes evoking beach huts», explains Annie Dubos, assistant to the works, and the correspondence is indeed striking, particularly in terms of the colors, orange and white, used.

A box dedicated to children’s books

Specific to the André Fauvel park, one of the two boxes is dedicated to books for childrenan initiative that could be renewed in the future within the Square Debussywhich already has a traditional book box installed a few years ago by the Lions Club.

As for the concept, it is now well known to users: you take a book, you put one back from your own collection. “It’s a concept that works well,” recognizes Annie Dubos. For the launch, “we are going to start placing a few books there”, but the number of works available only needs to evolve over time…
