In Pluguffan, the multilingual children’s book fair restarts with a renewed team

Studious working session for the book fair association with a rejuvenated team. The challenge is great for its members, the majority of whom are Pluguffanais already well invested in community life. The multilingual youth book fair was put on hold for 3 years. The fault of the Covid effect, weariness, the need for renewal… However, “historical” members are present and the transition took place with the assurance of being able to count on each other.

34 exhibitors are registered

The aim of the fair, which will take place on Sunday 1st December, is to “promote children’s reading in several languages and promote local writers”, recalls Sophie Pochet, the new president. Publishing houses and authors have responded. “Already 34 exhibitors have registered”, notes Annaïck Rouxel. Anerine Karadog, a multilingual Welsh poet, will be the guest of honour. Other artists will take part in the event, such as the duo Kat and Fred who will sing in Breton and Welsh on Sunday afternoon. The programme is well underway.

Partnerships have been renewed, others have been created, with the English-language bookshop Bookish Kemper located in for example. The municipality obviously supports this fair with a cultural scope extending beyond the borders of Cornwall. Thus, a competition is offered to schools here and… in Wales.

The urban community is equally concerned. Quimper Bretagne occidentale will set up two shuttles on Sunday, December 1st between Pluguffan and Quimper.
