The 2025 edition of the Tour du Finistère will start from Quimper on Thursday, May 9

Around twenty people attended the general meeting of Kerfeunteun Animations Sportives (KAS), Monday, September 23, at the Maison des Sports in Ty-Nay, in . The opportunity for the president, Marc Fayet, and the team to take stock of the association’s flagship event, the Tour du Finistère cycling race, which took place on May 11, 2024.

A budget not to be exceeded

One hundred and six riders, from sixteen teams, set off, for the first time since Quimper, on a journey around the QBO communes. The cyclists arrived in Penvillers, under the sun, seeing the great victory of Benoît Cosnefroy, already holder of this honor in 2021.

“The challenge has been met, the International Cycling Union (UCI) has given us an excellent report,” noted the president, even if, for 2025, the goal is not to exceed the €155,000 budget (including €30,000 for the teams alone). And despite a “modest” budget compared to other events in the Coupe de , this is not easy. Treasurer Patrice Onfray is keeping a close eye on this.

The sports calendar puzzle

After many phone calls and negotiations, the 2025 edition will finally take place on Thursday, May 9 (instead of the traditional Saturday), in the middle of a long weekend, in order to allow for the “Four Days of ” in mid-May and its military commemorations as well. The Tour du Finistère will therefore follow “Les Boucles de l’Aulne”, planned the day before (a first!), and will precede Plumelec, on the 10th, and the Tro Bro Leon, on the 11th.

So the calendar is complete for the UCI and a new challenge to take up for the KAS in this organization during the week, a bridge day.
