You did not discover yourself in a thread last month, and here is the time to do what you like. What boon, since this 1is May coincides with several changes in the daily life of the French. We take stock.
It is rather good news if you heat up on gas. From 1is May, the price of this energy will drop by 6.4%. Very concretely, you can count on a price passage per kilowatt hour (kWh) from € 0.12,412 to € 0.1162. Considering that a French household consumes an average of 11,187 kWh per year, the average bill would go from € 1388 per year to just under 1300.
We explained it to you on April 1, but this change should finally be visible in French bank accounts in May. The main social revaluations (RSA, AAH, ASS, activity bonus …) were upgraded by 1.7%. The first revalued payments should indeed arrive on May 5. To find out more, and know your rights in social assistance, click here.
Until May 1, 2025, the State hoped to encourage the French to acquire a 100% electric car by setting up free gray card, only invoicing administrative and shipping costs, or € 13.76. This advantage has now ended: electric vehicles are now subject to the same regional taxes as thermal vehicles. So count between 40 and 60 € in general if you intend to buy an electric car.
It has become an appreciable habit for the 5.7 million households which receive the energy check each year, in the amount of 48 to 277 €. Generally paid in May, this aid will be paid to you this year much later. At the end of March, the Ministry of Industry and Energy announced that checks would only arrive in your mailboxes in November. The reason: “late adoption” of the 2025 finance law. “Energy suppliers are invited to be flexible and benevolence towards potentially eligible customers”, wished the ministry. Due to this delay, 2025 energy checks will be used until March 31, 2027.
The beginning of May also opens the season for online income declarations. For the numbers numbered from 1 to 19 (like the Cher, the 18th), the deadline is May 22. From number 20 to number 54, you will have until May 28. Finally, the departments whose number is greater than 54 will be able to complete their declaration online until June 5.
